چکیده

We report a new method to measure the kinetic rate constant of CO2 hydration using electrochemical oxidation carbon monoxide (CO oxidation) in isotope-labeled electrolyte. CO is often used as model reaction investigate surface metallic electrocatalysts, most notably stripping experiments. Using chip-based electrochemistry mass spectrometry with 18O-labeled electrolyte we show that: 1) For experiments on Pt, one oxygen product comes from reactant and other electrolyte, consistent Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism involving adsorbates *CO *OH. 2) Some formed subsequently exchanges via short-lived carbonic acid. use time-dependent isotopic ratios calculate compare it literature. By doing this at two different temperatures that robust provide an accurate measurement for hydration. Chip-based combined labeling thus shown be versatile powerful tool elucidating mechanistic aspects homogeneous reactions well electrocatalytic reactions.

Single Platinum Atoms Electrocatalysts: Oxygen Reduction and Hydrogen Oxidation Reactions

Atomically dispersed catalyst consisting of Pt atoms arranged in a c(2 × 2) array on RuO2(110) substrate was prepared. A large interatomic distance of Pt atoms in a c(2 × 2) phase precludes the reactants to interact with more than one Pt atoms. A strong bond of Pt atoms with RuO2 prevents agglomeration of Pt atoms to form 2D-islands or 3D-clusters. Activities of single Pt atom catalyst for the ...

777 Thinking Coherently About the Second Law The efficiency of heat engines has been limited by the Carnot cycle, which states that the efficiency cannot exceed 1 – Tc/Th, where Tc and Th are the absolute temperatures of the cold and hot reservoirs feeding the engine. Surface oxygen vacancies in gold based catalysts for CO oxidation

Experimental catalytic activity measurements, diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier spectroscopy, and density functional theory calculations are used to investigate the role and dynamics of surface oxygen vacancies in CO oxidation with O2 catalyzed by Au nanoparticles supported on a Y-doped TiO2 catalyst. Catalytic activity measurements show that the CO conversion is improved in a second cycle o...

Performance Improvement of PEM Fuel Cells Using Air Channel Indentation; Part I: Mechanisms to Enrich Oxygen Concentration in Catalyst Layer

A three dimensional, compressible, steady, one phase flow of reactant-product mixture in the air side electrode of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is numerically studied in this paper. The mixture is composed of three species: oxygen, nitrogen and water vapor. The performance of the cell is enhanced by partial blockage of the flow field channels. Various types of these blocks also ca...
